"Wi-Fi" means "wireless fidelity" and refers to certain kinds of wireless networks. Travellers with PDA's (like Blackberries), dual-mode phones and other handheld devices or laptops with wireless cards can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.
You often find wireless networks indicated by the term 'Wi-Fi hotspots'. These are places where you can find Wi-Fi, free or paid. Nowadays, Wi-Fi hotspots can be found in hostels, bars, train stations, coffee shops, universities and many airports.
You can log on to free Wi-Fi at hotspots where Wi-Fi is intentionally offered to the public without charge; some Wi-Fi networks are protected with passwords and you must pay or otherwise be given access to log on.
